Different Material Requires Extra Attention

Our 4SYS shoes are made with the utmost care and are designed to last.
But as with all products, they will last longer if you take good care of them.

LEATHER AND NYLON

To keep your Leather 4SYS footwear in top condition, they need to be allowed to air and dry after each use. It will help them to dry more quickly if you remove the footbeds and laces.

Allow your boots to dry naturally and never on a radiator or near to a heat source, as this may cause the leather to dry out and become brittle.Once your boots have thoroughly dried, you need to remove any excess dirt from the boots using a damp cloth. If your boots are heavily soiled, you can use warm soapy water and a brush to remove the dirt.

Next, the leather will need protection with your preferred specialist product. Finally, apply a wax crème or polish as this helps to protect the leather further and helps to prevent it from drying out or splitting. A system of regular cleaning will help your boots look better, perform better and last much longer.

WATERPROOF

Waterproof / breathable materials are treated with a water-repellent finish, which keeps the outer material from becoming saturated with water so the breathable material can function correctly.

This coating needs to be reapplied every so often. A simple water drop test can be performed to see if the shoe should be recoated. If water no longer beads up on the outside of the shoe, its time for another surface treatment. Several spray products on the market can restore water repellence.

Whichever you choose, be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions. Before these treatments can be applied and effectively work, the footwear should be clean and dry.

ANTI-STATIC

Antistatic footwear should be used if it is necessary to minimise electrostatic build-up by dissipating electrostatic charges, it should be noted, however, that antistatic footwear cannot guarantee an adequate protection against electric shock as it introduces only a resistance between foot and floor.

If the footwear is worn in wet conditions where the soling material becomes contaminated, wearers should always check the electrical properties of the footwear before entering a hazardous area. Where antistatic footwear is in use, the resistance of the flooring surface should be such that it does not invalidate the protection provided by the footwear.

In use, no insulating elements should be introduced between the inner sole of the footwear and the foot of the wearer. If any insert is put between the inner sole and the foot, the combination footwear/insert should be checked for its electrical properties.

General Tips To Take Care Of Your Shoes

Cleaning Your Shoes

Clean your footwear regularly using high-quality cleaning treatments recommended as suitable for the purpose. NEVER use caustic or corrosive cleaning agents.

If your boots become damp and covered with mud, clean them immediately after use, do not leave them dirty to dry.

Corrosive natural chemicals such as acids and alkalis, which are found in different soils and dirt, can work their way into the materials and start to slowly decay and rot them, thus weakening the overall strength of the shoes.

This also prevents damaged waterproof linings and membranes (if included). The most effective way to clean your boots is to immediately rinse them under clean tap water with a soft-bristled brush.

A mild detergent can remove most stains on the outer side of the boot. To remove heavy stains, moisten a cotton cloth with a few drops of denatured alcohol.

First, test the alcohol on an inconspicuous part of the shoe and allow it to dry. Repeat and rub the stain if there isn't any
discolouration or other problems, but do not saturate the fabric. Allow it to dry. Using a light bristled brush, clean the stain with a mild detergent and scrub until the stain disappears.

Rinse the shoe in warm water and damp dry with a clean towel. Allow drying naturally and away from direct heat sources.
